Yup, I bought my Wii from Toy Kingdom. They claim that the duties and taxes caused the prize to go that high… but it well worth it!
It\\'s been a unifier - - my whole family: from my 64-year old dad, my sis, my bro (a hard-core gamer), hubby, and kids (7 and 9 year old girls) are hooked! Their favorites: Wii Sports for my Dad (now a bowling and golf PRO) and 7-yr old daughter (who can go head-to-head with my Dad and win!), Zelda for my 9-year old and me, Trauma Center for me too…. hubby is still holding out for his Tom Clancy game…we have to stop ourselves from buying the games… they\\'re costing us a fortune!
It\\'s been so enjoyable that my kids are now wanting to learn how to play bowling and tennis for real! Ain\\'t that a great side-effect!

P30,000? Of course it\\'s not worth it! Nintendo has pegged the street price at US$250 or P12,500. Even with duties, taxes and shipping it shouldn\\'t be priced more than double. Customs taxes for this kind of electronics will not go over 40%, and shipping for a box less than 3kg, by air and in certain volume, will not exceed $6 per unit. So if the wholesale price for each unit is $200, add $80 for taxes and $6 for shipping and the retailer\\'s base price is only $286 or P14,300. Everything else is tubong lugaw.
Heck, if it can be bought online for $230 from a US merchant (or via Ebay), it can be brought into the Philippines at a total price (including airfreight and tax) of less than P16,000, broken down as $230 for the unit, $30 shipping to freight forwarder, and $35.40 airfreight and taxes to the Philippines (declared as personal effects, since this is not in commercial quantity). Use P52-$1 exchange rate because you\\'ll be using your credit card to buy online.

It is available in CA USA for $249 tax. In pesos, it amounts to around P13,000 (48 to 1 exchange rate). Now would it be better for me to have a relative buy it and hand-carry it to Manila or wait here for the price to go down some more?? Hmmmmm….

just to let you know, although it\\'s cheaper sa US, they are hard to find…. most stores here, out of stock…so 19K at festival mall is a good buy…. b/c it\\'s not easy to go around in CA to look for wii in stock… too much time and gas wasted….

I brought home 4 Wii units just recently. Bought 2 from a Best Buy store in California after waiting in line at 5am and 2 in Spokane, Washington when I luckily walked into an EBgames store who had just received delivery not more than 30 minutes before. I sold the 3 units for roughly 25k and one I decided to keep. Although now I \\'m having problems connecting to the net.

i bought my wii here in japan for 25k yen (P9,250) 1JPY=0.37Php. But of course it is still not modified. the price of the games here are 5k yen a piece (P1850). When i go back home in the philippines ill just modified it for 2k pesos so that i can play copied games already.
wiimote cost 3600 yen (P1332) Nunchuck cost 1600 yen (592)
i want to know if the cost of nunchuck and wii mote and other accesories of wii is cheaper in the philippines.

uFoCatcherGuy , I currently here in Japan. When you modify it, magiging english ba yung language nya? paano imomodify? software? or me gagalawin/idadagdag sa hardware? san ba merong nagmomodify? tnx in advance.
I think, the accessories are cheaper here in Japan than in the Philippines.

Wii in the philippines last time I checked (Sept) was at 18k for the standard package and Php200 for the games (not original games of course). This is from cyberzone, sm city north edsa.
I\\'m bringing in an european Wii to Manilla as a present. Does anyone know for real if the games bought in the Philipines will play on it? I am aware of the PAL NTSC difference. However is it not a fact, most new TV\\'s in the Philipines can handle both decoding?
If it doesn\\'t work, I\\'ll just have to take it back home.

1. Japan version of wii will NEVER be converted to english, even after modification. MOD chips only \\"skip\\" the security sectors of the optical media, so the \\"copied/fake\\" games will pass through the security firmware of the wii system. Sorry
2. Prices here in Manila has now gone up…from 18k prexmas, to 23k as of this writing. The JAP version (modified) is something like 16 or 17k. Considering that the peso went up, and still the price of the wii is high, I think the price is just business driven more than anything now. It should go down soon…
3. Most, I would say, of TVs in Manila are multi-system i.e. PAL/NTSC. However, I am not sure if the modified wii\\'s here are can accept either system games
4. Accessories are CHEAP here in Manila! Check out ebay.ph or some other shops. Even CDR King offers wii accessories!

Bought ours sunday night over at E2G (3rd floor virra mall, greenhills). 21, 500 bundled with the controller, nanchuk, 1 orig cd and 20 pirated cds, and 15 in 1 na accessories, however since we wanted the 20 in 1 accessories, we added 700 php.
Hubby is enjoying the tennis game while he\\'s whining about me getting the sims 2 pets coz he knew how addicted i got from the orig sims i used to play on his lappy. (and i almost broke it back then) hehehe….
any suggested games? something like tennis and sorts?

like omg u dumb tools, wii sux ass, get a real system not some cheap kiddy crap. btw all u fools who buy electronics in Philippine stores are getting ripped off hardcore…god bless America.
@ PS3 is better, don’t you have anything better to do? If you think PS3 is better, then why go to a nintendo Wii forum and show everybody here how great the PS3 is instead in PS3 forums with all the jerks who think PS3 is the best? it’s called “preference of console”
just trying to show u fools the light thats all….and the wii is for kids…..in fact most of the games are crappy with 3rd rate game play…the only “decent” games are made by nintendo the rest of the publishers produce shoddy games for it, but then again it’s not like u fools buy the product retail price, but mass pirate it…so what u pay is what u get….
Thanks for you opinion but I don’t think we need the “light” you have just shown to all of us. It’s true that they give out crappy 3rd party games for the Wii but those “decent” games made by Nintendo makes up for it. And didn’t one of those “decent” games made by Nintendo earn a place in one of the top games?
At least we don’t waste our money to buy an HDTV when we get the Wii. Face it: Nintendo has perfected gaming a long time ago and has been there all the way. Sony just came after.
Anyway, I think the PS3 is great in all, but you don’t have to show it off. All consoles have their strengths like PS3 is famous for graphics, 360 for online and Wii for interactivity.
I don’t see the point why most PS3 fanboys [like yourself] always “think” that the PS3 is the best…
PS while you at it, why don’t you post what you just said and reply to this comment to PS3 forums instead?
son i had nintendo since back in the nes days….hell i even remember playing with the power glove the predecessor of the current wii nunchuck controller. now back in the day yeah hands down Nes beat out sega, and every other console out there….i would even be bold to say the SNES was the best solid console ever. however that was a long time ago….and if u really want to go back in gaming, yes i even had a atari…..and that was great for it’s time too. a wii is over glorified dreamcast. DC fun system, fun games, fun online, but not fitting for this generation of consoles.
whats wrong with HDTV’s? let me clue u in, it’s called technology…here in america the old SD tv’s are being done away with(it’s what u call “obsolete”. so lets not act like the Flintstones here.
hell i even got my game room set with a optical digital DTS 5.1 system (more technology) just to enhance my game play. anything wrong with maxing out my game play value? hence the reason i have beef with the wii, it’s so shallow, i know i’m comparing a 250 usd system to a 599 system…but still why go for the cheap wine when u can have vintage for few hundred more dollars?
for the record i also “owned” a wii…i was drawn into it @ 1st…but dear god i got rid of it after 5 months as it was collecting dust.
why i “think” the ps3 is the best? simple…it’s the B.F.D.
’nuff said.
I respect your preference for the PS3 already. BTW, have you read the title of this thread? It has the word Philippines…so right now, HDTV is not such a fad today because most can’t afford it here unlike those people in the states so we are sorry for buying “obselete” TVs that are still going strong here. I haven’t seen much HDTVs in other houses
I am in the US now. Should I buy a Wii here ($250 or Php 10,000) then modify it when i go to the Philippines (Php 2000 or $50), or should I just buy a Wii in the Philippines (Php 18,000).
Im just thinking if there will be problems if I modify the Wii bought here in the US.

@ic3jhay, walang pumapansin sayo eh, hahaha… anyways, to anwer your question, na “Semi-Bricked” yung unit mo, if i remember correctly, you have japanese wii unit right? then you’re usin US games and one of them contained an update na sinalang mo sa unit mo, then nung nag update in a different region unit yung US game, sapul! nasira ng kontin yung wii mo, not sure kung ano na firware ng wii mo, pero kung wala pa ka pang digital clock sa menu, version 2 or lower siguro firmware mo and here’s what you need to do to fix the problem, get a JAPANESE game with update, sample is Super Mario Galaxy or Super Smash Brothers Brawl, remember, JAPANESE version ha, then run the update, not sure kung effective pero sa mga nabasa ko sa internet, naayos yung mga semi-bricked units nila. pero kung game na nakadale sayo ay mario galaxy or brawl, maghintay ka na lang ng japanese game na may 3.3J na update, kasi 3.2 yung latest sa mga games.

Their favorites: Wii Sports for my Dad (now a bowling and golf PRO) and 7-yr old daughter (who can go head-to-head with my Dad and win!), Zelda for my 9-year old and me, Trauma Center for me too…. hubby is still holding out for his Tom Clancy game…we have to stop ourselves from buying the games… they\'re costing us a fortune!
It\'s been so enjoyable that my kids are now wanting to learn how to play bowling and tennis for real! Ain\'t that a great side-effect!

19K?
It is available in CA USA for $249 tax. In pesos, it amounts to around P13,000 (48 to 1 exchange rate). Now would it be better for me to have a relative buy it and hand-carry it to Manila or wait here for the price to go down some more?? Hmmmmm….

Nunchuck cost 1600 yen (592)
i want to know if the cost of nunchuck and wii mote and other accesories of wii is cheaper in the philippines.

uFoCatcherGuy ,
I currently here in Japan. When you modify it, magiging english ba yung language nya? paano imomodify? software? or me gagalawin/idadagdag sa hardware? san ba merong nagmomodify? tnx in advance.
I think, the accessories are cheaper here in Japan than in the Philippines.

Happy Hunting.

PS3 is Better!:
like omg u dumb tools, wii sux ass, get a real system not some cheap kiddy crap. btw all u fools who buy electronics in Philippine stores are getting ripped off hardcore…god bless America.
Posted on April 9th, 2008 at 11:15 pm
trotroy:
@ PS3 is better, don’t you have anything better to do? If you think PS3 is better, then why go to a nintendo Wii forum and show everybody here how great the PS3 is instead in PS3 forums with all the jerks who think PS3 is the best? it’s called “preference of console”
btw, who ever said that Wii is for kids?
Posted on April 17th, 2008 at 7:52 pm
PS3 is Better!:
just trying to show u fools the light thats all….and the wii is for kids…..in fact most of the games are crappy with 3rd rate game play…the only “decent” games are made by nintendo the rest of the publishers produce shoddy games for it, but then again it’s not like u fools buy the product retail price, but mass pirate it…so what u pay is what u get….
Posted on April 22nd, 2008 at 8:25 pm
trotroy:

PS3 FTW:
son i had nintendo since back in the nes days….hell i even remember playing with the power glove the predecessor of the current wii nunchuck controller. now back in the day yeah hands down Nes beat out sega, and every other console out there….i would even be bold to say the SNES was the best solid console ever. however that was a long time ago….and if u really want to go back in gaming, yes i even had a atari…..and that was great for it’s time too. a wii is over glorified dreamcast.
